Season 8 of Glass in Session® is kicking off in a very special and unexpected way. If you’ve been with me since Wine Two Five, you may remember fun guests who appeared (and drank) with us on the regular. When I launched my solo wine podcast endeavor in 2019, I pushed my guest list to the back of my Trello board burner and decided to go a different direction.
My obsession with obtuse, off-the-wall historic events and details from the world of fermented beverages got the best of me. In a matter of a few short, fringe wine episodes, Glass in Session® took on a life of its own. No interviews: just me, a couple of drinks rabbit holes, and a lot of resources. Fun for me, and clearly fun for those of you who keep listening. You’re my people!
The few interviews I have done were under special circumstances, and they were all bonus content. I have turned down and referred out just about every podcast guest pitch I’ve received, as most of them are looking to promote their brands or products … until now. The pitch I received was very personal, and the subject was unlike anything I’d ever heard on another wine podcast. I realized I’d met this proposed guest at a Master of Wine information seminar in San Francisco a few years back. I remembered his enthusiasm, and after much online stalking decided he was a perfect fit for my weird-ass podcast.
So, who is it, Val?
Nope. Not telling. But let’s just say he details an exciting wine project in a little-known part of our planet. The conversation was so much fun it became a two-episode series dropping on Friday, September 10th. Yes, we talked wine, but also covered everything from rum to wine studies, novels to home-made rice hooch.

You might be asking yourself or not “Hey Val, are there monks?” Hell yes there are monks! But not in the way they’ve made appearances in other episodes and chapters of wine history. We have modern day monks, mountains, giant green caterpillars, watermelons, and baby vines in international border limbo during a pandemic.
That’s right. You will not want to miss the kick off of Season 8 of Glass in Session® on Friday, September 10th. It’s been so hard to sit on these episodes since they were recorded last month!
